Founded in 2025 by dancer and creative Yasmir Stancil, Standstill Movement, LLC was created from over 15 years of performance experience, professional training, and firsthand insight into the realities of multiple dance communities. Throughout her journey, Yasmir recognized both the strengths and recurring challenges within traditional dance spaces—particularly the lack of accessibility, cultural freedom, and supportive environments for emerging dancers. These experiences inspired the creation of a new kind of platform built on connection, growth, and purpose.
Standstill Movement’s mission is to cultivate a global dance community for individuals who share a passion for movement, creativity, and self-expression. The platform is uniquely designed to allow dancers to grow culturally within their art while practicing on their own terms—without the pressure or high costs often associated with in-person studios. While the founder’s background is primarily rooted in commercial dance, Standstill Movement embraces a wide range of styles, offering something for everyone rather than limiting dancers to a single genre.
At its core, Standstill Movement values passion over competition and seeks to ignite each dancer’s purpose.
